Why Making Sourdough Bread Is Good For Your Health


People these days simply don't breathe enough. When I say breathe I don't mean it literally, rather as a metaphor. People simply don't take the time to take a look at themselves, their life or anything that is happening around them. We're so preoccupied with out busy schedule that life passes us by before we know it.

In this time and age most people don't have time to eat lunch properly let alone bake their own bread, but there is something very liberating in making your own bread. It restricts the things you can do at once, you can just bake the bread, you can't talk on the phone, you can't multitask because it's physically not possible, and you’re all tied up in the bread making.

At this point you're probably thinking "why the hell should I want to make my own bread when I can buy it in any store". At this point, it is more about everything else than nutrition, not to say that homemade bread isn't healthier than the one from the store but baking bread these days is more of a ritual than actual need. That might be exactly why you should do it, it will force you to take away some time and spend it only doing one thing. When you consider that a sourdough starter can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to grow fully you can see how much slower life was just a few decades ago and that people actually took time.

Most people nowadays have problems with stress, they feel that they're always tired no matter how much they sleep, a lot of that comes from worrying a lot and even being connected to everything and everyone all the time. Sometimes silence and solitude can be the best thing for you and your mental health.
